The store, based on Moore Road, re-opened under its new lease of life as a Tesco Express two days ago on Thursday, 20 January, at 9am.

To celebrate the opening, a temporary balloon arch had been placed over the entrance doors, with the balloons in Tesco’s signature red and blue colours.

It trades from 7am to 11pm every day.

It is stocked similarly to how the One Stop once was, except, as it sports the ‘Tesco’ name and branding, Tesco Clubcard points can now be collected and spent inside.

Customers have the opportunity to grab a hot cup of coffee inside from the self-service ‘on the go’ Costa Coffee vending machine.

The Post Office branch is open from Monday to Saturday, giving users the chance to make bill payments, send post locally and internationally, and collect and return items.

A newly-posted vinyl sign on the side of the exterior of the shop, states that the branch is “serving Barwell’s shoppers a little better every day”.

Speaking to LeicestershireLive last month, whilst the rebrand was under way, a spokesperson for Tesco explained the reasoning behind the rebrand.

They said: “We believe the Express brand will better serve the Barwell community, offering a broader range of both branded and Tesco own brand products, as well as more fresh food and food to go.”

The supermarket giant were able to convert the store from a One Stop shop to a ‘new look’ Tesco Express without any issues as Tesco own both of the brands.
