A PRIDE flag is being flown high atop a flagpole inside of Hinckley’s award-winning Argents Mead park this month to mark and celebrate LGBT+ Pride Month.

The flag being flown is titled the ‘Progress Pride flag’ which was created by non-binary artist Daniel Quasar.

Quasar’s flag is a variation of the rainbow pride flag – and it features additional colours to represent trans people and LGBTQ+ communities of colour.

Hinckley-based LGBT+ Rights Campaigner, Mathew Hulbert, said: “It’s really good to see Pride Month being recognised and celebrated in the town once again.

“We LGBT+ people contribute to the life of our borough in countless ways and Pride Month, each June, is an important opportunity to recognise that.

“We’ve come a long way in terms of the fight for equality, but there remains a long way to go especially in terms of full rights and recognition for Trans and non-binary people.

“Pride is always part celebration of our communities, and our straight / cis allies, and also a protest at what still remains to do in that long march to equality.

“I wish all LGBT+ people and our allies a fantastic Pride month.”

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) lead a partnership named True Colours, which organises ‘significant’ LGBT+ events in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth.

It was founded in 2019 and they can be followed on Twitter.

  1. Why do we have all this prude business pushed at people if we had national hetero
Sexual month fir instance there would be outrage and say we are discriminating against lgbt people but no mention of them discriminating against straight people is there. Fair enough people who are orientated in this way have been roughly treated in the past but now we seem to be an equal society do you not agree and you have more than got this point across without flying a flag in our local parks..
