New retail space being created in part of former Hinckley cinema and bingo hall

PART OF a former Hinckley cinema is being transformed into a new retail space, the Hinckley Free Press has learnt.

Contractors were spotted today (Thursday, 9 November) on the ground floor of the former Regent Cinema on Lancaster Road, fitting and glazing new shop windows.

In addition, construction materials have been stocked up inside, showing that their plans to internally transform the former cinema to a shop are now well underway.

These are not the only transformation works to have taken place at the site recently.

As we reported back in September, the former ‘dome’ part at the top of the building has seen brand new flats created. As well as this, two new staircases leading up to the flats have been erected at both sides of the main ground floor retail space.

The plans were first lodged in 2019, meaning it has taken around four years for them to take shape and come to fruition.
