Officers descended on down to Newtown Road last Tuesday evening (24 October), after a resident informed them that a man in the area was trying car door handles.

And, when they arrived at the scene, the force arrested a suspect, who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident which had taken place in town earlier that day.

According to a statement posted to the force’s Facebook page, he was subsequently charged and sentenced, where he appeared in court two days later, on Thursday, 26 October.
