BUILDING SOCIETY chain Nationwide are looking to update their Earl Shilton branch by giving it bold new storefront signage, if their plans are approved.

The news was made known after Nationwide’s agents lodged plans late last week through Hinckley and Bosworth borough council’s planning portal to change the storefront signage, and ATM coverings, at their branch based on The Hollow.
If approved, it would see their long-established ‘Nationwide Building Society’ logo swapped to their recently rolled out visual identity, which simply reads “Nationwide” in all lowercase, on a dark blue background, with a logo of a sun setting behind a house.
The new storefront signage and branding is already in use many high streets, such as one branch in nearby Nuneaton, just across the county border (pictured, top).
At the time of publication (Sunday, 22 October), an internal target date has not yet been set, so it is not known how long it may take for a decision to be made on it.
However, all is looking up for the plans, as no comments of objections have been flagged in the online portal by the council, town residents, or anybody else involved.
In a statement issued to the Swindon Advertiser on their rebrand, a spokesperson for Nationwide, said: “As a modern mutual, we should be modern in everything we do. So, we’re updating our logo and how we look – but not what makes us different.
“Unlike banks, we’re not owned by shareholders. We’re owned by our members. Which means we always focus on what’s best for them.”
