A ‘Hands on History’ event named ‘On the Wing’ is to be held inside of the Nuneaton Museum this Saturday (13 May) to celebrate World Migratory Birds Day.

The event will give museum visitors the opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with museum objects featuring birds at the session – with these items ranging from ceramics and tiles, to decorative headpieces, and bird-related objects from around the world.
A Nuneaton Museum spokesperson said: “Find out how birds feature in many art forms and how native birds are celebrated by different cultures.
“Our ‘Hands on History’ events represent a unique opportunity to handle some of the wonderful artefacts from the Museum’s collections.”
Coun. Sue Markham, the Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said: “The Museum’s handling sessions enable visitors to feel the excitement of real history in their hands.”
The session is completely free to attend, and no prior booking is needed, meaning that anybody can show up on the day, from 11am and 4pm in the Picture Gallery.
