FOUR TEENAGE boys were arrested minutes after police were called on down to the report of a fight near a leisure centre in Nuneaton.

Yesterday evening (Wednesday, 3 May), around 7.59pm, officers descended on down to reports of teenage boys fighting at a Nuneaton-based leisure centre on Avenue Road.
They arrived within minutes, and promptly arrested four males, aged between 16-years-old and 17-year-old, who remain in custody as of this afternoon (Thursday, 4 May).
On-beat bobbies also seized drugs and weapons at the scene of the incident.
Northern Area Commander, Chief Inspector Steve Davies, said: “Clearly, a small number of people in our town are taking the improving weather as an invitation to behave irresponsibly.
“In this instance, within ten minutes of receiving a call we had made four arrests.
“We also scrambled a helicopter to ensure that, had the suspects attempted to flee when we arrived, they wouldn’t have got far.
“I’m already getting more officers on the streets in key areas to prevent disorder and I’m organising for specialist traffic officers to work with police helicopters to stop any attempts at evading us if an incident occurs.
“To be blunt, we are not going to tolerate this behaviour. If you cause trouble on our streets, we’re going to lock you up.”
