SOUTH LEICESTERSHIRE’S Member of Parliament, Alberto Costa, is looking to hold an ‘urgent’ meeting with Leicestershire County Council bosses in order to discuss ‘much-needed’ improvements to Enderby’s local infrastructure and road network.

The call for the meeting comes after he was approached by two councillors, who serve both the Enderby and St. John’s areas, who asked him if he can play a helping hand in seeking out improvements to the development of Enderby’s relief road.

And, discussions have came ahead of the consideration of a new planning application for the Enderby Logistics Hub, which has attracted more than 1,000 objections from residents.

He has written to the Transport Secretary, The Right Hon. Mark Harper MP, to ask what assistance the Government can give in improving the local infrastructure in the village, and to assist in discussions over the proposed Enderby Relief Road.

Alberto stressed that the planned logistics hub needs ‘greater thought and consideration’, and slammed the current state of the roads, stressing they are “congested”.

He said: “Following a recent meeting with the two excellent District Councillors for Enderby and St Johns, I have written to Leicestershire County Council in order to arrange an urgent meeting to discuss some much needed improvements in Enderby.

“With the plans for the Enderby Logistics Hub on the horizon, it is quite clear that greater thought and consideration needs to be given to relieve congestion in and around Enderby and the previous proposals for an Enderby Relief Road would greatly help this.

He concluded: “It is unfair for my constituents in Enderby to suffer with congested roads, with local neighbourhoods often becoming rat runs. I hope to meet with the County Council soon to discuss possible solutions and I have also written to the Transport Secretary to see what assistance the Government can provide”.
