POLICE have revealed the reason as to why police tape was put up on Upper Bond Street yesterday (Monday, 13 March), just outside Hinckley town centre.

The blue police tape was first spotted next to the traffic lights at the former Hollybush Inn at approximately 4.30pm yesterday afternoon by drivers and passers-by alike.

This meant the traffic lights leading to the former Danilo Cinema were out of bounds.

As well as this, two Hinckley Police officers were outside of the building – with one parked up in a police car, and one on the street talking to passers-by.

But, today (14 March), a Leicestershire Police spokesperson explained there was no criminal activity – but it was down to debris falling off the roof due to the weather.

They simply explained: “This cordon was put in place after reports of debris falling off the roof of the building due to the weather conditions – it wasn’t a criminal matter.”
