That is according to Burbage PCSO Darren Stretton in his most recent policing newsletter update, who revealed that the attempted break in took place at 9.30pm on Sapcote Road near Aston Flamville Road.

Burglars smashed the front window of the property, and then subsequently fled the scene shortly after.

Now, police officers have launched an appeal for any CCTV camera footage from any vehicles in passing.

A spokesperson for the Burbage Beat Team said: “If you have any CCTV that may cover any passing vehicles, especially any cars driving at speed towards Hinckley around this time, please get in touch.”

They further made the crime reference number known – 230000009397.

PCSO Stretton added: “This incident may have been targeted towards vehicle theft so please consider steering locks and RFID wallets. Police attended immediately and local support has been given and offered regarding vehicle security.”

Residents with CCTV camera footage are being encouraged to email it to PCSO Stretton directly, on his official force email of darren.stretton@leics.police.uk.

Details on the incident can be reported to Leicestershire Police on their non-emergency number of 101 using the same crime reference number, or by visiting the ‘Report a crime’ portal on the force’s official website.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
