Wigston moped rider charged over collision with pedestrian in Hinckley town centre

A MOPED RIDER from Wigston has been charged with a non-stop collision in Hinckley town centre.

The charge relates to a collision on Castle Street in Hinckley which took place on 27 August 2021, where a moped collided with a pedestrian.

The non-stop collision seen the pedestrian, a man aged 20, sustain ‘serious’ injuries. As a direct result of the incident, he was taken to hospital, where he was discharged after a number of weeks.

According to Leicestershire Police in a statement issued yesterday morning (Wednesday, 4 January), the motorcyclist, who is a 19-year-old from Boulter Crescent in Wigston, has been charged with serious injury by dangerous driving.

He is set to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court next Monday (9 January).
