AN ANIMAL rescue charity shop in Barwell were presented with a luxury hamper after winning the Parish Council’s annual ‘Best Dressed Christmas Window’ competition.

The hamper was handed to Roxie’s Rescue, on Chapel Street, after parish councillors agreed that they had the best-dressed festive window in the run-up to Christmas.
A Parish Council spokesperson explained that ‘many’ more shops had entered their shopfront windows into the competition this year, making for a ‘very close decision’.
All of the entries were judged by three councillors who had the final choice and voted for their favourites.
Vice Chair of Barwell Parish Council, Coun. Mathew Hulbert, who chairs the Events Committee, said: “This year the light switch-on event seemed to bring out more people than ever, and the decorated shop windows proved very popular.
“It was a very close-run thing and we thank everyone for taking part. The luxury hamper was presented to a member of staff from Roxies Rescue who were all delighted to be crowned this years winners”.
