TEMPORARY ROAD closures will be in place across Hinckley town centre for four days from today (Thursday, 17 November), to Sunday (20 November) to accommodate the Christmas light switch-on and Tin Hat Fair, the Borough Council have confirmed.

That is according to a newly-shared post on Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s official social media sharing platforms which helped to confirm all the closures.
The post explains that some roads in the town have closed from 3.30pm today, and will remain shut until 6am on Sunday, 20 November.
The roads which have fully closed starting from 6pm today (17 November) are Regent Street, Market Place, George Street, Castle Street, The Borough, and part of Coventry Road. They will remain closed until 6am 20 November, with diversions in place.
Lancaster Road and Rugby Road will operate as normal with two-way traffic, however, a 20 mile per hour speed limit will be put in place.
The Horsefair will become a two-way street, so residents can enter and exit through Station Road, meaning the George Street taxi rank will be temporarily be out of bounds. Taxis will pick up passengers near the Kwik Fit garage on Lancaster Road.
Church Walk and Station Road will be closed for one day only, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday, 18 November. Vehicles in the area can exit up until 5:30pm only, including vehicles on Horsefair. It has been noted that “parking bays on Station Road and Church Walk car park will not be accessible to enter or to exit during this time.”
And, light switch-on attendees have been reminded they should allow time for their journeys. The Council’s spokesperson said: “Please allow enough time for your journey and take into consideration if you are working in this area how you will exit safely.”
