HINCKLEY’S NEWEST coffee house, The Wild Lotus is to open its doors tomorrow (14 November).

It will welcome avid coffee connoisseurs from 9am. They specialise in ‘quality’ barista coffee, as well as freshly-made sandwiches, pastries and cakes, all of which are “packed with health-beneficial nutrients”.
Those who have their very own furry friends can bring them on down, as it has been confirmed that well-behaved dogs will be welcomed.
Boasting a vibrant interior and relaxed playlist, The Wild Lotus’ aim is to be eco-friendly, sustainable, and protecting the planet – even having a focus on the furniture inside being second-hand, having real potted plants inside, and compostable coffee cups.
Open in time for annual Christmas lights switch on
Owner of The Wild Lotus, Beckie Stock, has exclusively confirmed to the Hinckley Free Press it will be open for the Christmas lights switch on (Friday, 18 November) – a night that last year proved so popular that it had managed to achieve a ‘record breaking attendance’ according to Hinckley Bosworth & Borough Council (HBBC).
Due to this, the coffee shop have come prepared, making the decision to trade from from 9am “until late” on the night.
They will be offering drinks in compostable takeaway coffee cups for those who wish to head on down and watch the Christmas lights be switched on.
Beckie further told the Free Press: “We’re all about the community. Our ethos and space will attract people. All of the plants which are here. We’re creating a space which is somewhere you can come with your friends, which feels real.
“We are promoting changes to the planet and helping out with them, as you are the change that you want to see. We’ll have some savoury foods, as well as croissants, paninis and salads. I’m going to start getting more creative in the coming weeks, but we will be simple from the start.
“On the night of the light switch-on, we will have a local jazz band playing live casual and relaxed Christmas tunes in the background to get people in the mood. They’ve played before at the Elbow Room many times before.
“Dogs will be welcomed, with dog treats and water bowls for them. We’re very accessible for all, with a ramp from the entrance, and disabled toilets.”
“We have found milk suppliers in Middlefields Moo Juice which will supply to us in glass bottles, are sourced locally, and will help us to be really sustainable. We are really pleased.
“This really was worth the wait. My dad has helped with most of the decorating over the past few months of the interior renovation works.
“We want to host calligraphy, wreath-making classes, lifelike drawing classes, sessions for poets, and even artists. Baby-weighing sessions will be held once a week for mums in their own dedicated area. Our vibe is mainly all about health and well-being. We want customer service to be amazing. We want customers to feel both loved and looked after.
“We are helping people look after the planet with our de-compostable cups, we get our milk from free-range happy cows, and we are having recyclable bins supplied from Hinckley BID to help us decompose our waste.”
