Greeting card giant Card Factory have permanently closed their doors to their outlet in the Britannia Shopping Centre, where they have had a presence for many years.

But, this is because they have “moved” and quietly opened their doors at a brand new location in Castle Street – inside of the former Thorntons chocolate shop near EE.

A blue and yellow poster has been placed in the window of their old store, directing customers to the new shop. It reads: “We have moved. Your new Card Factory store is just a few steps away… 15 Castle Street, Hinckley, in between EE and Bodycare.”

It was back in early September that the Hinckley Free Press learnt about the Card Factory’s plans to breathe life back into the space, after sitting empty for two years.

At the time of the article being published back then (Friday, 9 September), it was unknown what would happen to their store in the Britannia Centre.

It has taken the retailer two months to complete the re-location.

A new coffee shop named The Wild Lotus are hoping to open soon on Castle Street – and have recently been hiring part-time staff ahead of the opening.

On nearby Regent Street, a new waffle shop named Waffles Emporium is opening inside of a former antiques, craft and gift shop.

And, on Market Place, a new real ale bar and coffee house named ‘The Clarence’ plans to open this weekend.
