CONSTRUCTION works have commenced on Hinckley’s new branch of Card Factory inside the former Thorntons chocolate shop on Castle Street.

Contractors were spotted inside of the shop today (Monday, 10 October), where they had stripped the walls entirely, to fit them with new materials and repaint them. They were even seen fixing up the ceiling tiles, whilst on step ladders inside.

This marks the transformation of the shop’s past lease of life from a former chocolate shop to a brand new card and gifts retailer.

As we exclusively reported first in early September, it has been confirmed that the Card Factory are the new takers for the unit, which means they will be the newest card shop to open in Hinckley town centre.

This was discovered after they lodged planning permission for illuminated signage atop the unit. The shiny new signage would be bright blue – and it would use their modernised logo which was officially rolled out three years ago back in 2018.

Whilst this will mark the Card Factory’s newest location in town, it is not yet known if there are any plans to retain their store in the Britannia Shopping Centre or not.

A Card Factory spokesperson has been approached for comment, but did not answer at the time of publication.
