A WETHERSPOONS PUB in Loughborough town centre has been put up for sale.

The national pub chain have recently appointed letting agents Savills and CBRE to dispose of 32 of their pubs, with Loughborough’s ‘The Moon and Bell’ being their only site in Leicestershire which has been placed on the property market.
The news was made known in a newly-posted portfolio brochure listed on the JD Wetherspoons disposals website – a portal which shows their pubs up for grabs.
JD Wetherspoon spokesman, Eddie Gershon, confirmed to the Hinckley Free Press that the Moon and Bell is now on the market, and he described the move to sell these sites as “a commercial decision”.
It will continue to trade as a Wetherspoons until a new buyer has been found and it has been sold to them.
He said: “We can confirm that Wetherspoon has put The Moon and Bell, Loughborough, on the market. On occasion Wetherspoon does put some of its pubs up for sale. This is a commercial decision.
“We understand that customers and staff will be disappointed with it. The pub will continue to operate as Wetherspoon outlet until it is sold.”
The property brochure reveals that is being sold on a leasehold basis in a busy town centre location fronting Wars End, within a ‘core bar, restaurant, and leisure circuit’.
The current rent price is £85,500 per annum. It has a Gross Internal Area (GIA) of 831.6 square metres – a total of 8,952 sq ft.
It has been stressed to interested buyers that no formal viewings will be permitted unless arranged through the joint selling agents Savills and CBRE. And, under no circumstances should any direct approach be made to any of our clients staff.
The pub benefits from a premises licence permitting the sale of alcohol until 12:30am on Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Friday and Saturday.
Loughborough will still keep their other Wetherspoons pub – ‘The Amber Rooms’ – in The Rushes Shopping Centre, as that pub is unaffected and not related to these plans.
As we first reported last week, Wetherspoons have recently revealed plans to re-open in Hinckley once again. They have been granted permission to take on the former Poundland are in the process of applying for a premises licence. If approved, it could open next year.
