The sun shone on down for the performance, which formed one of the free and ever-popular Borough Council-arranged ‘Music in the Mead’ outdoor music concerts.

Local performer Sam Southall wowed the crowds on Saturday afternoon (20 August) with popular covers of popular music in Argents Mead.

Many families, out-of-town visitors, singletons, and elderly visitors, all headed on down to listen to the solo singer’s covers of some chart-topping classics.

Those who missed it should not feel like they have missed out, as there are still three more free ‘Music in the Mead’ performances lined up for the weeks to come.

They will take place from inside of the Platinum Jubilee bandstand in the park.

The line up is as follows:

  • 3 September – LE8 Five Brass Quintet
  • 10 September – Audio Spirit
  • Saturday 17 September – Steven Faulkner

All of these performances are to take place from 1pm to 3pm, and are free to attend without any booking having to be made, meaning anyone can simply show up.
