ARGENTS MEAD park-goers are set to enjoy some swing classics from a Burbage-based former football manager turned swing singer in just one weeks’ time.

Local singer Dean Thomas, from Burbage, is to perform inside the Jubilee bandstand at Hinckley’s Green Flag award-winning Argents Mead park on Sunday, 23 July.
He is to perform a variety of Rat Pack classics, according to event organisers at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC).
The Rat Pack was an informal group of entertainers – a few of their notable members included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.
Attendees paying a visit to watch Dean’s set can expect vocal covers of some classics which were first performed by ‘Ol Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra.
Dean has cited Sinatra as his most influential crooner, and has even got a tattoo of him on his arm. His works have became a staple of his set list.
‘Music in the Mead’ events are free-to-attend and do not require any prior booking, meaning that anybody can show up and enjoy the music.
They are held from 1pm until 3pm, with an interval taking place in the middle.
Below is a list of the soon-to-perform Mead musicians, with dates:
- 13 August – V4
- 20 August – Sam Southall
- 3 September – Les Five
- 10 September – Audio Spirit
