The fresh new plan has been lodged by agents and applicants with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC) through their online planning portal.

One of the planning documents reveal that the applicant looking to make this proposal a reality is a Coventry-based applicant simply known as Castle & Nest.

They want to create the newly-proposed flat at the rear of the ground floor – a space which has previously only played home to a building society and offices. As well as this, associated elevation changes would be carried out to form new windows.

The one-bed flat would be fitted with a toilet, kitchen, and dining area.

Planning permission has already been granted for five flats to be created on the first and second floors.

Commercial section being retained

As well as this, the main ground floor area at the front of the building would retain its commercial use, meaning that a new business could still take part of it on.

In the Assessment of Proposed Use, planners stated: “This proposed use would be compatible with the use of the remainder of the property, which will predominantly be residential, with a ‘modest’ commercial unit occupying the rest of the floor.”

A target decision date has been set for Friday, 19 August, in six weeks and two days’ time.
