AN 18-YEAR-OLD man from Bedworth has been charged following an incident of violent disorder outside of Nuneaton’s Asda supermarket last Friday afternoon (1 July).

This morning (Monday, 4 July), Mandla Mawarire, of Appleyard Close, Bedworth, has been charged with violent disorder and threatening a person with an offensive weapon/bladed article/corrosive substance in a private place.
This is in connection with the violent disorder incident involving a ‘large blade’ which took place outside Nuneaton’s Asda supermarket on Friday evening, which seen shoppers left ‘shocked’ as a result of the terrifying ordeal.
He was remanded in custody and has appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court today, Warwickshire Police officers have confirmed in a statement.
Nuneaton police officers have since made a total of four arrests on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector, Dave Andrews, previously said: “The level of disorder seen in Nuneaton over the past week has being totally unacceptable and we fully understand the concern amongst local people.
“We’re working hard to find those responsible and are urging the public to help by calling us if they have any information that may help with our enquiries.
“We’ve brought extra officers into the area and they will remain there over the weekend to help prevent any further disorder.”
