New top cop in town as Inspector Steve Palmer named as new police commander for Hinckley and Blaby

A NEW police inspector is now overseeing Hinckley and Blaby’s Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA).

Leicestershire Police have revealed today (Wednesday, 22 June) that Steve Palmer has officially replaced Jamie Osborne as Area Commander for the Hinckley and Blaby Neighbourhood Policing Area, which stretches from Glenfield to Hinckley, to Narborough, Stoney Stanton and Market Bosworth.

Inspector Palmer is a former deputy Neighbourhood Policing Area commander for East Leicestershire.

He took the reins from Jamie Osborne in his new role when he started this week.

Former Inspector, Jamie Osbourne, who became NPA Commander in August 2020, is moving to a new role in local policing and partnerships.

Before Inspector Palmer started his career with the policing force, he joined the Army when he was 16 years old and served 14 years with the Royal Engineers.

He then started his time with Leicestershire Police as a police officer in the Blaby District back in 2007.

Insp. Palmer, said: “I am delighted to be the Area Commander for Hinckley and Blaby, the area where I started my policing career 15 years ago.

“I look forward to using all my experience to build a strong policing team that works together with partners and our communities to make our area safer, putting the public first in all that we do.”
