Driver injured following collision with police car in Earl Shilton this afternoon

A POLICE vehicle collided with another vehicle in Earl Shilton today (Monday, 13 June).

The collision took place just before 12.55pm as the police car was passing through the busy road of Station Road in the nearby village of Earl Shilton.

The officer and passenger inside of the police car did not sustain any injuries.

But, the driver of the second vehicle sustained an injury to her wrist – and she is now being treated in hospital as a direct result.

Damage was caused to both vehicles, but nothing else was damaged during the incident.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson confirmed and revealed to the Hinckley Free Press that “enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision”.

Passer-by and Free Press reader, Stewart Bint, snapped the above feature photo of the damaged police car on social media, showing it parked up next to a lamp post. A force spokesperson stressed that it was moved next to the lamp post after the incident.
