PLANNING PERMISSION is being sought out to convert part of a landmark bank building in the heart of Hinckley town centre into a new live music venue.

That is according to documents lodged with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s planning portal, and a notice directly outside Regent Street’s former Yorkshire Bank.

An applicant named Dr. Raghu Ramaiah, from Burbage, is behind the plans and is hoping to convert the existing bank building into two individual units consisting of a new bar, cafe and live music venue.

Inside, part of the bank’s original partition features would be ‘stripped out’, to make way for the venture.

And, ‘cutting in’ works would take place to install a new secondary fire exit with entrance doors and ramp access from inside out on to The Borough, in the place of a currently unused and boarded-up cash machine.

On the ground floor, a new bar, cafe and live entertainment space would be created, if approved.

As well as this, even more live entertainment would be performed upstairs on the first floor, which would sport yet another bar – and rather interestingly, a kitchen area.

Punters could easily access the upstairs area from double doors on Regent Street.

Some interior works have started to be carried out on the project, but these have not yet been officially approved as the plans are still “awaiting decision”.

Recently, the newest bar to open its doors to in town was Out Out back in April, which is housed inside the former Vis-a-vis nightclub also on Regent Street.

And, another new Regent Street-based venture that is to open soon is Addylline Bakery, inside of the former Voodoo Lounge.
