NATIONAL PUB chain Greene King are celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with a unique ‘one day only’ opportunity to grab a pint for just 6p in some of their pubs tomorrow (Monday, 30 May) – including one in Hinckley and a few others in Leicestershire.

The deal will only be honoured on the pub chain’s own IPA, named ‘Greene King IPA’, with one offer being claimed per customer, as 6p was the ‘average cost’ of a pint when Her Majesty The Queen ascended to the throne 70 years ago back in 1952.

Thirsty punters wanting to get their hands on the massively reduced drink must mention the “special codeword”, which is ‘1952’, when placing their orders at the busy bar, so the discount can be honoured.

Speaking to Sky News, Andrew Gallagher, Marketing Director for Greene King Local Pubs, explained: “The Platinum Jubilee is a fantastic way for the UK to come together and celebrate our Queen and country.

“We wanted to take our customers back to where it all began – 1952, a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts and pints were only 6p.

“We can’t wait to see our customers enjoy this royally good deal on Monday 30 May, and look forward to celebrating the platinum jubilee in all our pubs across the bank holiday weekend.”
