HINCKLEY POLICE’S pop-up shop inside a town centre mall will remain until the end of June, as a new and extended set of dates for the sessions have been announced.
The local policing force first started temporarily using their ‘pop-up’ shop inside of the Britannia Centre three months ago on Tuesday, 1 February.
Since then, it has remained in use for most weeks throughout the months of March and April, with the most recent session being held on Saturday, 30 April.
Inside, officers have selling crime prevention items, holding workshops for youngsters and teenagers, and listening to concerns which have been voiced by local residents.
According to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) in a statement shared on Facebook today (Thursday, 5 May), it was stated that officers are to stay inside of the mall for longer than expected, as a result of the success of the sessions.
The statement confirms that they will remain inside until the end of June, but at the time of publication, the only listed dates go up to the end of May.
It reads: “Hinckley Police are pleased to announce that due to the success of the last three months of the ‘Pop Up Shop’ in the Britannia Centre, they have been offered the opportunity to extend it until the end of June.”
The reasoning for the extension is because over 600 members of the community have stopped by to speak to officers, as well as purchasing some crime prevention tools.
