THE WAIT is almost over for Hinckley’s newest North Indian restaurant, which is set to open its doors in the next week.
An official Google Maps listing has been created for the Bikaneri Bar and Restaurant, which reveals an opening date of Tuesday 5 April, which is just one week away.
Activity has surrounded the former Rossini’s unit, next door to Tarro Lounge – with contractors carrying out renovation works since mid-February.
The team behind Bikaneri are Marwar Caterers, who reached an agreement with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) bosses to get the building used once again, after it was untouched for a total of two years.
Additionally, their website, which can be found here, further reveals that the North Indian restaurant will be able to host private parties for up to 45 people at a time.
Diners of all diets will be welcomed, as the menu offers options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans, with dishes ranging from tandoori chicken, onion bhajis, curries, and mixed vegetables, just to name a few.
The opening hours will be from:
12:00PM until 10:00PM from Monday to Thursday
12:00PM until 11:00PM from Friday to Saturday
12:00PM until 9:00PM on Sundays
The restaurant got its name from the word “Bikaneri” – a word used for people from Bikaner, which is a popular city located inside the North Indian state of Rajasthan.
Bikaner is known for its culture, as well as its rich taste in food and spices.
Last month, Savitri Bhamu of Marwar Caterers, who is launching the restaurant, told the Hinckley Free Press: “We chose Hinckley as we believe there is a potential market gap for North Indian Rajasthani food, as there are mainly Bengali, Nepali and South Indian Restaurants available now.
“We chose The Crescent, as we believe this a primary location with a high footfall. “We believe our restaurant will be a great addition to The Crescent.”
