The Atkins Gallery, based on Bond Street, have launched the appeal for memorabilia and imagery for use in an exhibiton which would be open from Monday, 11 July, to Friday, 12 August.

They are after any copies of invitations to the Queen’s Garden Party, or investiture, copies of the coronation programme, and even photographs of local people being presented to the Queen.

As well as this, mugs, tea towels, souvenir china, commemorative coins, medals, and letters signed by Her Majesty are all being sought after.

Exhibition planners are looking to hear from those who wish to display their items in the exhibition – and it has been stressed they will be ‘carefully’ displayed – and returned back to their owners.

Those interested in helping can contact the Gallery directly, by emailing info@atkinsbuilding.co.uk

Coun. Keith Nichols: Executive Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Town Centres, said:
“There are a great many opportunities this year to celebrate this anniversary but to see what our residents have to display would be fascinating, sparking nostalgia and curiosity.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to delve into the archives and see what treasures we can share. The exhibition team would be most grateful.”
