The Hinckley Free Press had learnt that the Council were calling out for a village crier through a listing posted on their website three days ago (Thursday, 10 March).

It has been stated that the ideal village crier must ‘love Burbage’ – and be able to make themselves heard over a crowd of people, as they will be ‘the voice of the community’.

And, auditions for the position are set to take place in May.

The role has been launched to help promote the Parish Council’s Diamond Jubilee events being held in June, which includes a beacon being lit to mark the start of the holiday weekend, as well as a street party which will take place on Church Street.

Those interested are being encouraged to send a brief application letter to the Council by simply emailing info@burbage-council.co.uk, or writing a letter to Burbage Parish Council, Millennium Hall, Britannia Road, Burbage LE10 2HF, before 1 April 2022.
