EAGLE-EYED residents have spotted ITV gardening legend, Alan Titchmarsh and his team in Hinckley yesterday – and the reasoning behind his visit has been revealed.

Yesterday morning (Wednesday, 9 March), one resident, who wishes to remain unnamed, noticed the ‘Love Your Garden’ host leaving a taxi, whilst his camera crew followed, after parking their vans up either side of Merevale Close.

After this, Alan Titchmarsh and his camera crews walked up and down Merevale Avenue, whilst they were recording a ‘piece to camera’.

And, one of the production companies, Spun Gold, sent out a letter which was posted through letterboxes, stating why the famous gardener is filming in the area.

The letter explained that a Hinckley resident, who lives on Northfield Road, is to feature on Titchmarsh’s hit show, ‘Love Your Garden’ – and that their garden will be given a makeover from Sunday 10 July, through to Wednesday, 13 July.

Part of the letter reads: “This is a notification to let you know that a resident at Northfield Road has been selected for the ITV television programme ‘Love Your Garden’ with Alan Titchmarsh.

“The garden makeover dates are from Sunday 10 July to Wednesday 13 July 2022.

“During this period, there will be some disruption in the local area with deliveries.

“The build involves renovating the garden behind the house while being filmed by a small crew.

“We will be doing our best to keep the impact on the street side to a minimum.

“Please be reassured that we take the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously and we will be adhering to the current protocols at all times.”

The Hinckley Free Press contacted both of the production companies – Spun Gold Television and ITV – for further information, but neither of them have yet responded to our request for a comment at the time of publication (Thursday, 10 March).

On “Love Your Garden”, Titchmarsh travels around the country and seeks out ‘some of Britain’s loveliest domestic gardens’ and ‘wonderful’ outdoor living spaces which have been created by avid gardeners.
