A GROUP of swimmers were spotted swimming in Nuneaton’s Ensors Pool on Sunday morning (27 February) by Police, despite officers past warnings to ‘stay out’ of the deep and dangerous pool.

Officers working with Nuneaton South’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) spoke to the swimmers about the dangers of swimming inside of Ensors – and stressed to them that they run the risk of catching hypothermia, isolation, or a cold water shock.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team further raised concerns to the group over the fact that the pool may have underwater hazards and uneven banks inside of it.

And, officers had even learnt that some of the swimmers were not even from Warwickshire – and that they had paid a visit over to Nuneaton specifically to take a swim in the deep and unsafe waters.

A spokesperson for Nuneaton and Bedworth Police issued a statement on the force’s official Facebook page yesterday (1 March), and reminded residents – and visitors – it is unsafe.

They said: “This location is a environmentally protected area and not suitable for any water based activities.”
