COMEDY FANS in Hinckley can expect an evening filled with knee-slapping jokes this Sunday (6 March), as locally-renowned MC, Doug Carter, brings his comedy show back to the Revival theatrical cocktail bar on Regent Street for a third time.

Carter has helped bring many ‘rising stars’ and familiar faces known on the comedy circuit straight to the main stage at Revival in past times, including Adam Hughes, Eddy Brimson, Rachel Jackson, and Andy White, just to name a few.
Now, he is bringing a new group of comics to Revival on Sunday, 6 March, all of which have all been entirely hand-picked by him.
Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award nominee, Adam Beardsmore will serve as MC for the night. He has been described as ‘genuinely funny, innovative, and disarming’ by Nick Page, who was named English Comedian of the Year in 2017.
Stephen Cookson, Barnoldswick Comedian of the Year in 2016 and ‘one-line master’,will open the show, ensuring that it is off to a flier – and, comedian Phil Walker has stressed that Cookson has ‘some of the finest crafted one-liners on the circuit’.
The middle act is Al Rudge, who is best-known for being a ‘comedian magician’ and showing off his tricks during his sets. Rudge has previously opened for TV chat show host “The Chatty Man”, Alan Carr, and “The Masked Singer” star, Lenny Henry.
The last routine of the night is from new up and coming comic, Lou Conran, who has previously supported “one of the UK’s best comedians” Sarah Millican, and award-winning TV comic, Joe Lycett, who previously hosted the Great British Sewing Bee.
Start time and sharing drinks on offer
The doors will open at 6.30pm, but the show will officially start at 7.30pm.
It has been stressed that whilst the comedians are performing their sets, drinks will not be able to be ordered, as they carry out their routines in front of the bar.
Drinks will instead be offered on a ‘table service’ basis during the intervals, meaning that patrons have the chance to order their drinks without interrupting the show.
As well as regular draught beer offerings from the bar, beer pitchers of Coors and Carling will be on offer, as well as sharer cocktails – such as the ‘punch bowl’ and ‘afternoon tea’ cocktails, which are able to be shared between four to eight people.
General Manager: “It will be absolutely brilliant”
Harry Smith, General Manager at Revival, has high hopes for the event – and thinks it will be hailed a success.
He said: “I think the show will be absolutely brilliant. We’ve got a fantastic line-up of comedians who have worked with many famous faces.
He continued: “I’ve watched as a customer in the past and really enjoyed the experience of it all.
“Revival is a great venue to experience live comedy and coming on down to watch the show means that you are also supporting a local business.”
Two giveaways being held – and how to enter
There is a chance to watch this show completely free of charge, as two tickets are being given away in a ‘giveaway’ competition on Revival’s official Facebook page.
All hopefuls wanting to be selected and win the giveaway have to do is ‘like, comment and share’ on a Facebook post – and tag a friend that they would like to watch it with.
Those who book tickets within the next two days will be entered into a ‘prize draw’ that will see them have the chance to win a sharing cocktail for two on the night.
Where to book tickets
In-venue and over the phone – no fees
It has been recommended by event organisers that those wanting to attend book either inside of Revival, or over the phone, calling 01455 440662, where staff can reserve tickets using card details, like an online order.
This is because both of these methods will ensure that the tickets will remain their regular prices of £10 for a standard ticket and £12.50 for VIP ‘booth seating’.
Online – extra booking fees
Alternatively, those looking to book their tickets online can do so here, but an additional booking fee will be placed on the price of the tickets – an extra fee of £1.37 will be added on standard tickets, and a £1.56 fee will be added on VIP tickets.
