NUNEATON’S Abbey Street car park entrance has been re-instated and is now open to drivers once again.

The news was made known by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC), in a social media statement shared today (Monday, 28 February).
It reads: “The Abbey Street car park entrance from Abbey Street has been re-instated and is now open again.”
On Thursday, 10 February, when the construction hoardings surrounding part of the car park were installed, we reported that the car park entrance had been blocked off.
Motorists were unable to enter into the car park from Upper Abbey Street – and signs were put up, reading: “Road closed”, whilst the Abbey Street exit remained open.
This was because contractors were carrying out archaeological survey works – and areas of the car park were out of bounds as the works were going ahead.
During the closure, it was still accessible through an entrance off the Roanne Ringway.
New Century Way will play a key part in the Borough Council’s optimistic ‘Transforming Nuneaton’ plans, which will see a brand new ‘Hampton’ by Hilton Hotel created on part of the land.
