HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council’s Leader, Coun. Stuart Bray, has announced that the Borough Council ‘stand ready’ to support a Government refuge scheme for Ukrainian refugees, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, making it a war-torn country.

Coun. Bray (Lib Dem, Hinckley Castle) made the announcement in a statement which was issued this evening (Thursday, 24 February), where he reassured Ukrainian nationals and those of Ukrainian descent of the Council’s ‘ongoing support’.
He said: “Following the dreadful news that Russia has invaded the Ukraine, we want to reassure Ukrainian nationals and those of Ukrainian descent of our ongoing support and stand ready to support a government refuge scheme.
“We support Ukraine as a sovereign, self-governing state and hope that the situation will be resolved soon.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by the conflict.”
The Hinckley Free Press have further learnt that Councillor Bray has asked that a Ukrainian flag is to be obtained and flown over the Hinckley Hub “to show solidarity with Ukraine, and the Council’s commitment to democracy”.
