Following the man’s earlier arrest on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, a Section 18 search was conducted at an associated address in Nuneaton.

Officers found and seized a number of offensive weapons including a machete, knuckleduster and butterfly, claw and jack knives.

Subsequently 29-year-old Otis Nagle of Sedgmoor Road, Coventry, was further arrested and charged with possessing offensive weapons in a private place. He was later released on conditional bail to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on 11 March.

PC Dave Jephcott said “Thankfully this alarming array of weapons is now safely out of circulation.

“Under new laws that came into effect last July as part of the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, it is a criminal offence to possess certain dangerous weapons in private, such as the ones that were seized. Anyone who chooses to hold these potentially lethal items will be held to account.”
