Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) are administering the ARG Omicron support grant to support a wide range of businesses who have been affected by the omicron variant of coronavirus.

A Borough Council spokesperson said that they are distributing the grant according to an eligibility criteria – and priority will be given to the businesses in the greatest need.

Businesses from a wide array of backgrounds are eligible to register and apply to receive the grants.

These include those in hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care, travel and tourism, group travel, travel agents, tour operators and coach operators.

Wedding industries, nightclubs, theatres, event industries, wholesalers, English language schools, breweries, mobile businesses, gyms, freelance businesses and mobile businesses, can all apply for the grant too.

Businesses which do not have a ‘rateable’ value are eligible to apply for this discretionary scheme.

Grants are expected to range from £500 up to £2,500.

But, it has been stressed that the Council retain discretion to award lower or higher grants as they see fit.

Funding is limited for these grants, so the grants will be paid on a first-come first-served basis, as long as all of the necessary information is supplied.

Borough Council Leader, Coun. Stuart Bray said: “The Omicron variant could not have hit businesses at a worse time.

“I would urge the borough’s businesses to check if they are eligible for this latest government grant by visiting our website and applying before the deadline of 21 February.

“All grant payments remain a priority and we are keen to distribute these grants to support our businesses as soon as possible.”

Those eligible must submit an application before the deadline of 21 February, regardless of previous grants that they have applied for in the past.

Full details on the eligibility criteria for this and other grants as well as the application form is available on the council’s website, linked here.
