Vehicle hit by flames led to house fire on Newtown Road in Bedworth last night

A VEHICLE which was hit by flames led to a house being set on fire in Bedworth, near Nuneaton, last night (Monday, 24 January).

Shortly before 10pm last night, Warwickshire Police officers received a call from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS), in regards to a house fire which had broke out on Newtown Road in Bedworth.

Upon further investigation carried out by local officers at the scene, it was discovered that a vehicle fire was the cause – and it had quickly spread to the house.

During this, the road was temporarily cordoned off by officers, who had installed a row of traffic cones and a blue road sign, which simply read: “Police – road closed”.

The road had re-opened after the incident to members of the public around 11.40pm.

A spokesperson for Nuneaton and Bedworth Police revealed that nobody was injured.

They said: “The fire was soon extinguished and there were no injuries or casualties.”
