Revealed: Why a police helicopter was circling over Burbage yesterday morning

THE REASONING for a police helicopter being deployed over Burbage yesterday morning has been revealed.

Yesterday morning (Thursday, 6 January), at 8.50am, a Burbage resident and Free Press reader spotted a police helicopter circling above the village, over Grove Road, near Burbage Infants School.

The Hinckley Free Press contacted Leicestershire Police for further details as to why it had taken to the skies.

A spokesperson for the force revealed that it had been sent out by the National Police Air Service (NPAS), following reports that an elderly women was reported as missing, having left her Burbage home address in the early hours.

Luckily, the elderly individual was located around 9.30am, in the nearby area of Hinckley, where she was found safe and well.
