Today (Monday, 20 December), Barwell Parish Council took to their official Facebook page to express their frustration at those responsible who carried out the ‘mindless’ act of vandalism.

They explained that the trees had been planted in an attempt to ‘improve the look and environment’ of the park, as a part of their biodiversity pledge.

And, they further added that somebody had ‘thought it was necessary’ to wreck all of the hard work that has been put in to the project by the Council.

The incident has been reported to Leicestershire Police officers.

Those with information regarding the identity of the culprits are being encouraged to come forward with details to Leicestershire Police or Barwell Parish Council.
