Two days ago (15 December), the Hinckley Free Press discovered the brand new name for the branch through job vacancies listed for the Fosse Park Loungers cafe and bar.

It will be named “Vulpo Lounge” – or simply “Vulpo” for short.

“Vulpo” is the name for a fox, in the Esperanto language, a universal language – aptly-named given Leicester’s ties to the Leicester City F.C. football mascot, Filbert Fox.

Mystery first surrounded as to what name Loungers would give the cafe and bar, as back in October, they had only told LeicestershireLive that they were to set up shop inside of Food Central, with no further details about the newly-announced site.

Three new job roles have been spotted at the site online for a Kitchen Porter, Sous Chef, and Bar and Waiting Team.

These positions are currently available through the Loungers Recruitment website, with the roles of Kitchen Porter and Bar and Waiting Team being either part-time or full-time – and the Sous Chef job being the only one to be a full-time role.

Vulpo will not be the only new eatery to take shape in Fosse Park’s Food Central complex, as Italian-inspired eatery Zizzi have also applied for a premises licence to open a site and serve up alcohol.

Also in close proximity to the Fosse Park area, at the Grove Farm Triangle near the Sainsbury’s supermarket, Canadian coffee giant Tim Horton’s have lodged plans to transform the former Pizza Hut Restaurant in to a drive-thru.

Currently, the nearest Leicestershire-based Lounges are:

  • Tarro Lounge (The Crescent, Hinckley)
  • Centro Lounge (Old Hospital Court, Loughborough)
  • Montero Lounge (Sherrard Street, Melton Mowbray)
  • Mercado Lounge (Abbey Street, Market Harborough)

This proves positive news for Hinckley shoppers who are used to Tarro Lounge in The Crescent, as they will now be able to stop for a bite to eat and drink whilst out doing a spot of shopping over inside of the Fosse Park shopping centre.

In the meantime, Hinckley residents who are patiently anticipating the launch of this Lounge who want to try another branch, are able to pay a visit to Nuneaton’s Piero Lounge, on Market Place, which is approximately a 12 minute drive away.
