DRIVERS in Hinckley looking to do a spot of Christmas shopping will be able to park in four select town car parks entirely for free starting next Saturday (27 November).
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) will drop the parking charges for the Lower Bond Street, Trinity West and Castle car parks for the four Saturdays before Christmas – but only when drivers park in there after 9am.
Whilst not a town centre car park itself, shoppers will also be able to park for free inside of NWSLC’s Hinckley College campus, on Bond Street, on the same dates.
The parking promotion applies from 9am on Saturday 27 November and then Saturday 4 December, Saturday 11 December, and Saturday 18 December.
It is hoped that the Christmas shopping will be ‘given a boost’ once again as a result.
The Council have agreed to repeat the popular parking offer again as a “thank you” to shoppers for their loyalty and to increase trade for shops and businesses.
Parking is free in all Council-run car parks on Sundays throughout the year.
Council Leader, Coun. Stuart Bray, said: “After yet another challenging year I would urge residents and visitors to the borough to support their local high street and hospitality venues and hope this free car parking offer encourages people to come into the town centre. My thanks also to NWSLC for opening their car park to shoppers.”
