A BY-ELECTION is set to be held in the Barpool Ward of Nuneaton in one week and five days’ time (25 November), by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC).
On the day (25 November), it will be held between the hours of 7am to 10pm, to give residents the opportunity to elect a new councillor to represent the ward, following the resignation of former councillor Patricia Elliott, who resigned back in early October with ‘immediate effect’.
Abi Olaifa will be the Labour Party candidate, Jamie Marek Hartshorn will be the Conservative Party candidate and Andrew James Heritage will be the Green Party’s candidate.
Residents who are registered to vote will have already received a poll card telling them where their nearest station is.
Those who want to find out where their nearest polling station online, can do so at this link.
The last day to register to vote has already passed on 9 November, as did the deadline for a postal vote, which came a day later at 10 November.
However, residents who many have missed these dates, still have four days to appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf – 17 November at 5pm.
If Barpool Ward residents are unable to show to the polling stations, they can apply for a postal or proxy vote through the Borough Council’s official website.
More information about the candidates who are running to be elected can be found here.
