AN INDIVIDUAL assaulted police officers during their arrest in a Hinckley park yesterday evening (30 October), whilst they were carrying out a specialist operation with Leicestershire Police officers and their sniffer dog team.

Hinckley Police officers made the incident known at 11.58am this morning (31 October) on social media sharing site, Facebook, through their official page.
Their operation started at 5pm last night, where they were carrying out foot patrols of the town parks in Hinckley.
Whilst inside one of the parks, which was unnamed in the post, sniffer dog Storm, indicated that he could smell drugs, so individuals were stopped and searched.
Out of the seven people being searched, only one person was arrested in the park, but as police officers were arresting the individual, they assaulted officers.
As a result of the altercation, members of the local force ended up getting “a little” muddy.
No further details have yet been released about the arrest at the time of publication (31 October).
The Free Press have approached a Leicestershire Police spokesperson for information, but have not yet heard back.
Officers did release detailed ‘key’ statistics from their complete operation, as seen below.
- 27 people searched
- Five people found carrying controlled drugs
- One person arrested for assault police
- No weapons or needles located
