HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) have announced that they will hold a ‘fangtastic’ event for families in town just one day before Halloween.

‘Spooktacular Saturday’ will take place from 10am to 3pm across Hinckley town centre on Saturday, 30 October – and Borough Council bosses have told town-goers and children to ‘look out’ for ghosts, ghouls, witches and wizards.

The day will be filled with fun for all the family, and event organisers have encouraged residents and visitors to come on down in their Halloween costumes, as a competition will be held to determine ‘the best dressed’, with prizes being given out after.

Free activities will take place, including ‘pumpkin bowling’, face paint stencilling, creepy crafts, spooky stone painting with Islastones and a themed stilt walker.

People are further being advised to bring their carved pumpkins with them so that they can be displayed, as prizes are to be won.

Hinckley’s own radio station, Fosse 107, will provide a ‘spooky’ soundtrack to the day, including popular tracks which are synonymous with Halloween – Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, the Ghost Busters Theme, “Ghosterbusters” by Ray Parker Jr., and “Monster Mash” by Bobby Pickett, just to name a few.

Coun. Keith Nicholls, the Borough Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, stated that the event has proved popular year-on-year.

He explained: “This event has proven increasingly popular year on year. After a year-long break due to coronavirus, families, even with the youngest of children, can take part and enjoy all things Halloween at a day-time event within a safe and controlled environment.”
