MCDONALD’S have confirmed that Hinckley residents will be able to get their hands on their brand new burger aimed at vegetarians and vegans next week – the McPlant.
The new vegan-friendly burger was first trialled in England from Wednesday 29 September in 10 locations across Nuneaton and Coventry – and McDonald’s have stated that they are ‘confident’ that it will be appealing to all burger lovers.
McDonald’s bosses have now confirmed to the Free Press that foodies in Hinckley who want to see if it lives up to the hype will only have to wait until next Wednesday, where it will hit both of the town’s branches – Wheatfield Way and Dodwells Road.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s in the United Kingdom and Ireland, said: “We can confirm that the McPlant will be available in both Hinckley restaurants from 13 October.”
On 13 October, when it comes to the Hinckley restaurants, it will be available in 248 other locations as further trial locations, but it will not roll out nationwide until 2022.
It features an ‘impressive’ build, with a Beyond Meat® plant-based vegan patty, vegan cheese and vegan sandwich sauce.
It is cooked separately from all other burgers and sandwiches on the menu, using dedicated utensils.
It has been fully accredited as vegan by the Vegetarian Society to ensure that it meets the ‘highest vegan standards’.
McDonald’s researchers have spent the past three years researching and developing a way to bring a ‘delicious’ plant-based alternative offering to British and Irish customers.
