MORRISONS have celebrated the opening of their recently-refurbished Hinckley supermarket today (30 September) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting this morning.

The ribbon was cut at the entrance inside the store around 9.30am, where Morrisons managers and staff members welcomed shoppers into their ‘new look’ refurbished store, which now sports wider aisles, more selection, and bigger shopping areas.

Minnie Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Woody celebrated the opening by walking around to put smiles on customers faces and greet them as they were filling their trolleys and baskets.

The much-loved big screen characters had found their way over to the store opening thanks to Leicestershire-based character costume company Mascot Starz.

The Store Manager for Morrisons Hinckley, said: “I’m really proud to have been a part of the ceremonial opening this morning.

“The refurbishment is great for the community as they now have a ‘fresh’ local store to get what they want in their area.”

Steph Randle, Morrisons Hinckley’s recently-appointed Community Champion, said: “It’s great to share this experience with customers, colleagues and other members of our community.”

The beloved ‘Market Street’ section has been revamped and became ‘bigger and better’.

Other departments have further been expanded with more choice and range – such as the pizza counter, oven-fresh department and butchers.

Customers can now pick and choose their own food from the deli rather than have the staff members grab their food for them like in past times.

The lunchtime favourite salad bar has also re-opened, following the eased and relaxed coronavirus restrictions in recent months.

Those after an early morning bite to eat or even a hot drink, can sit in the renovated Morrisons Cafe and order food and drink directly from their devices using the table service website by inputting their allocated table number.

Takeaway food and drink is available for those who can’t stay long – one employee said that the coffee is ‘the same quality coffee as the big brands, but just at a reasonable price’.

Morrisons is open from 6am until 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
