The former H&M store, located inside of Unit 2, in the Ropewalk, will soon be occupied by a temporary Jobcentre location – and construction boards have already been installed around the former clothing store.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have officially confirmed on their website that they are coming to the Ropewalk, as it is on a listing for ‘Temporary Jobcentres’, reading: “Nuneaton – Unit 2, Ropewalk, Chapel Street, CV11 5TZ.”

According to the DWP’s ‘edit log’ of updates on their website, the listing was quietly updated a month ago in early August (5 August) to confirm the new location, but Nuneaton was first added back in July (9 July).

As well as this, on Wednesday (8 September), the Free Press noticed that construction boards have been erected to block off any view of the interior renovation works to the members of the public and passers-by.

One Jobcentre location already exists in Nuneaton, in Mill House, Mill Walk.

The DWP are setting up the temporary sites this year so that they can deal with ‘increased’ demand and provide services across the country where they are needed.

At the time of publication (14 September), the Free Press have not yet learnt when the Jobcentre will officially open their doors to members of the public.
