POLICE OFFICERS were called to the scene of a robbery today (17 August) on Smithy Lane, on Junction 2 of the M69, near Burbage and Aston Flamville.
A furniture delivery man who was delivering a sofa to an address on Smithy Lane was threatened, with the sofa subsequently being taken without payment.
The alarm was raised with police shortly after 3pm – six police patrol vehicles were spotted arriving at the scene by passers-by.
Leicestershire Police officers arrived at the address, where they had found the delivery man who was threatened. They later learnt that he had not sustained any injuries during the confrontation.
The sofa was then recovered from an ‘unoccupied address’.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing at the time of publication.
