A THEATRICAL BAR in Hinckley have announced that their comedy night which was set to take place next month has been cancelled.

Revival on Regent Street had planned to hold their first-ever stand-up comedy night next month on 12 September, titled “Sunday Laughs”, which would have featured local and renound comedians from the Collywobblers Comedy Club.

But, last week (7 August), a shock announcement was made on Facebook by a Revival spokesperson which stated that the event would no longer be going ahead as originally planned.

The Revival spokesperson explained that the event had been cancelled ‘due to Collywobblers Comedy pulling out due to the influence of another business in the town’.

They stressed that they were ‘extremely disappointed’ to make the announcement as they believe that ‘Hinckley deserves good things’.

“It’d be a much better day when the restaurants and bars of Hinckley decide to start working together again, like the good old days when Hinckley was one of the busiest towns in Leicestershire. We all have the same goals”, it continued.

At the end of the post, the venue asked for recommendations for other comedians or comedy shows that would like to get involved for any future events, as they still want to be able to offer revellers with these ‘special’ events.

A Facebook post regarding the cancellation, read: “It’s a great shame to announce our comedy event on 12th September has been cancelled due to Collywobblers comedy pulling out due to the influence of another business in the town.

“We’re extremely disappointed to have to make this announcement as we would of loved to be able to offer a great comedy night for Hinckley and continue bringing new events to our small town.

“Hinckley deserves good things!

“It’d be a much better day when the bars and restaurants of Hinckley decide to start working together again like the good old days when Hinckley was one of the busiest towns in Leicester. We all have the same goals.

“Those who ordered tickets online will be getting refunded by Collywobblers.

“In other news if you do know of any professional comedians or comedy shows that would like to get involved with future events please do get in touch with us as we’d still love to move forward with offering Hinckley these special events.

“Thanks all, apologies again but it is truly out of our hands.”
