Over the past few weeks, town centre shoppers and passers-by have spotted construction workers renovating the former Ali’s Hair and Beauty unit ready for its new lease of life, whilst unsure as to what will be taking it on, as no hints have been displayed publicly.

But, the Free Press have learnt that back on 6 April, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC), had approved the proposed plans to change the use of the space from retail (A1) into a hot food takeaway restaurant (A5).

It also grants permission for the installation of new shopfront roller shutters and an extraction system.

The planning permission was sought out by Mr. Mohammed Siddique.

At the time of publication, it is not yet known if it will be an independent name or a well-known chain which will be housed in the space once works are over.

It would trade from 11am until 12am on Sunday through to Thursday – on Fridays and Saturdays, it will trade for an extended hour, from 11am until 1am.

In their reasoning for granting permission, the Borough Council stated: “The proposed development would be in accordance with the development plan.

“It would not materially harm the character or appearance of the area or the living conditions of neighbouring occupiers and would be acceptable in terms of traffic safety and convenience.”
